President Trump mentioned he’ll skip a world financial discussion board in Switzerland later this month to stay in Washington whereas the federal government is partly shut down over funding for a wall on the southern border.
“Due to the Democrats intransigence on Border Safety and the nice significance of Security for our Nation, I’m respectfully cancelling my essential journey to Davos, Switzerland for the World Financial Discussion board,” Trump posted on Twitter as he was flying aboard Air Pressure One to Texas, the place he was going to go to the border. “My warmest regards and apologies to the @WEF!”
Trump and Congress are deadlocked over funding for his wall, leading to a partial authorities shutdown that has left 800,000 federal employees both on furlough or working with out pay.
The shutdown entered its 20th day Thursday.
Trump also remained in the White House over the Christmas holiday due to the shutdown — apart from a one-day journey to go to with US troops in Germany and Iraq.
The discussion board will probably be held Jan. 22.
